However, the ASPCA is not related to local SPCAs, despite the similar names, and money given to the ASPCA will not necessarily go to a donor’s local shelter. However, many Americans confuse the ASPCA with their local SPCA. In 2021, the ASPCA only gave $5.8 million to support animal shelters, a mere 1.5% of its $129 million budget. ![]() Despite its name the ASPCA is not affiliated with local SPCAs and gives little of its money to them.
